Authentic Nothern Vietnam Highlights: 5 Days in Hanoi, Ninh Binh & Halong Bay

• Having breakfast, starting the day tout at 9am

• Begin at the Ho Chi Minh Complex, where you’ll see the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum from the outside and visit the Presidential Palace, the historic Stilt House, and the iconic One Pillar Pagoda. Continue to the quiet B52 Lake, home to the remains of a downed U.S. bomber, and then visit the peaceful Tran Quoc Pagoda on the shore of West Lake.

• Lunch – Enjoy a flavorful Vietnamese meal at a local restaurant featuring authentic dishes.

• Afternoon – Explore the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university and a lasting symbol of Confucian learning, then dive into the vibrant atmosphere of Dong Xuan Market, the city’s largest traditional market. Conclude the day at Hanoi Train Street, sipping the city’s famous egg coffee or a cool drink as the train passes just a few feet away.

• Evening – Return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. Dinner is on your own, with classic Hanoi suggestions such as Bun Cha, Pho, or Banh Xeo.

Morning

• Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then depart Hanoi for a 2-hour drive to Ninh Binh, passing rice fields and local villages.

• Make a short 10–15 minute rest stop before arriving at Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, where you’ll explore historic temples and learn about the Dinh and Le dynasties.

Lunch

• Savor a traditional Vietnamese meal at a local restaurant before continuing your adventure.

Afternoon

• Take a scenic sampan boat ride in Tam Coc, known as “Halong Bay on land,” gliding past lush paddy fields and limestone cliffs while passing through the cool, dark Ca, Hai, and Ba caves.

• Continue to Mua Cave and climb 500 steps to the summit for breathtaking views of the Tam Coc river and surrounding limestone mountains.

• Return to Hanoi in the late afternoon for free time and dinner on your own.

Morning (8:00–8:30 AM pick-up): Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, check out, and meet the shuttle for a 3.5–4 hour drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay.

Lunch: Board the cruise, receive a welcome drink and safety briefing, and settle in as the boat begins its scenic journey through the limestone karsts. A fresh seafood and Vietnamese buffet lunch is served on cruise.

Afternoon: Explore the spectacular Surprising Cave, the largest in the bay, then continue to Titov Island to swim, relax on the beach, or hike to the top for a panoramic view of Halong Bay.

Evening: Return to the cruise for a short rest, join the chef for a Vietnamese cooking class, and enjoy a flavorful fusion dinner. Afterwards, unwind with optional activities such as squid fishing, a massage, movies, or mini-games. Overnight on the cruise.

After an early morning Tai Chi class on the deck, enjoy breakfast followed by a light brunch while taking in the peaceful scenery of Halong Bay. Continue to enjoy the tranquil views as the cruise returns to the pier. Disembark and transfer back to Hanoi, then proceed to the airport for your departure flight to your country.
